2011 was a 4 Universal Year
(2011 = 2 + 0 + 1 + 1 = 4 Universal Year)
The past year of 2011 has brought to
our notice world-wide events that seem to match the numerological
qualities in the number 2, 0, and 11.
The millennial number 2 will continue
to try to teach us the value of cooperation, patience, and peaceful
living.
Intellectual Curiosity and
Breakthroughs
The 0 of 2011 will continue for many
years to highlight various cultural ideals to which our human race
can aspire. Spiritual teachings, which may seem to get lost in our
materialistic endeavors, remind us that that life on Earth is more
than just a physical, mortal existence. While many may not yet be ready for
the idea of karma and reincarnation, science has helped us evolve our
thinking to recognize the mysteries of the nano world, and genetic
patterns. The search for ever smaller particles helps connect us to
the invisible world from which our life springs.
Critical Mass and Shifts in
Perspective
The 11 of 2011 is a master number
called the Iluminator and the Inspirer. It often brings sudden
outpourings of activity or emotions. No better event—of an
extremely unfortunate nature—could have been found in 2011 than the
terrible Japanese earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster. The 11
literally shook our foundation, not only in Japan and the immediately
affected area. The tragedy also illuminated and changed the thinking
of governments in other countries as to the potential danger of
nuclear energy. The events and the aftermath and the strong spirit of
the Japanese survivors inspired everyone in the world. We saw our
vulnerability as very real.
Strengthening our Global Network and
the Need for Common-sense and Austerity
Since 2011 added up numerologically to
the number 4, we saw a strong demand for common-sense and practical
decisions. Suddenly a call for austerity and reorganization came from
many countries in the Eurozone, such as Greece and Italy. The economy
of United States also fell prey to out-of-control spending, bad
loans, and crushing debt.
2012 is a 5 Universal Year
(2012 = 2 + 0 + 1 + 2 = 5 Universal Year)
Not an End but a New Beginning with
an Avalanche of Change
What might we expect, then, from 2012?
Many people will secretly wonder if--or
fear that-- the ancient Mayan predictions of the end of the world will
prove true, specifically on December 21, 2012.
Numerologically, 2012 adds up to the number 5—the number most
associated with change and the need for adapting to changing
conditions.
I don't believe that the world is literally going to end.
However, uncertainty is sure to increase. Government leadership is
even now in flux in many countries, including the United States. The
spirit of revolution begun in the Arab worlds will continue to flare
up in other disenchanted groups of people—especially young
people--in such protests as Occupy Wall Street.
The year 2012 is a time to break
through complacency and denial.
Increased population (which just hit
the 7 billion figure in 2011), dwindling resources, increased
consumerism, and on-going conflicts will continue to require our most
creative and inspired solutions.
The 5 Universal Year Encourages
Adventure, Exploration (Space?), Competition, and Experimentation.
Due to shifts in power and known and unknown environmental
stressors, 2012 will likely continue to foster economic volatility
and unemployment. Industries and institutions will continue to be
forced to confront outmoded beliefs and operating systems.
While the 5 Universal Year calls for
increased individualism, progressive ideas, and adaptability, the
freedom to bring ideas to market may, ironically, be somewhat
limited. New solutions for drought zones, dwindling energy
supplies, hunger, and other environmental issues will come to the
fore, but increased corporate and governmental authoritarianism may
slow implementation and progress.
Issues of Individual Freedom and
Instant Communication
The 5 Universal Year will put personal
freedom front and center. We will begin to wake up to where our
personal data is being monitored as we make on-line purchases, use
computers, cell-phones, and social media.
The Internet, despite its capacity to
invade our personal freedom, has also come along at exactly the right
time to meet our psychological demand for instant info, sharing
personal on-the-spot observations, and tuning into what's happening.
We don't wait anymore for the morning newspaper.
Picking up the Pace
This is a year to rock and roll and
boldly go into unfamiliar territory. In physics, no energy is
wasted. Problems activate the need for better solutions.
During 2012 we may find that more
people must migrate in order to flee areas of environmental or
climate change or be able to access emerging opportunities for work.
People will invent new services,
products, and occupations, and entrepreneurial activity should
increase.
As people look for ways of being more self-sufficient and
less dependent on a government they no longer respect, they may
increasingly decide to raise some of their own food, start community
projects, or buy energy efficient vehicles.
Companies will find it
expedient to cooperate with unlikely partners, conserve resources,
re-invent methods, recycle wherever possible, and work with economies
of scale.
Crises will stimulate opportunity and catalyze the development of new methods
and techniques. Even now some diseases are responding to gene
therapy, and the miracle properties of algae are being studied.
The year 2012 is likely to explode with
a quickening of intellectual and technological development that is no
longer limited to the developed world. In fact, real innovation is
more likely to be found in emerging economies, whereas older
economies will be struggling to stay current. Even now farmers in
India are checking agricultural prices on their smart phones, and
African women are cooking over solar stoves and working to bring
clean water to their families.
At this moment, somewhere a genius is
being born, and a young woman is starting her own business.
