So what can I do?

The best way to make your life count and thereby fulfill your destiny is to make choices based on your authentic self.  This is what we call the purpose-driven life.  Finding your purpose is not a destination—it’s a lifelong journey.

Ironically, your purpose is found in each segment of your daily life.  Each part of the day has a purpose  starting with early morning preparations, to moment-to-moment problem-solving and creative activity. Sometimes your purpose is just to let go and let life open your heart. Your purpose is to respond to life with aliveness, curiosity, and the willingness to learn and be changed.

Your purpose is not simply a job title.  It’s who you are.  It’s how you respond to life.  It’s the effect you have on others in daily life.  Each time you make a decision or a choice, your life purpose is present. The purpose of today may involve getting to work on time, listening to someone pour out their problem, guiding your child, sealing a deal, or keeping a commitment to yourself or someone else.   What do you do?  Just go with the flow, but keep tuned to the wisdom of your heart.  This is how you live the purpose-driven life.

In a nutshell:

"Be generous, be patient, be compassionate, be disciplined (committed to doing no harm), and be willing to let go of your need to be right or in control."

In Buddhist terms, this mindful practice is called going to the other shore.
