The process of popping a mask out of a single sheet of paper started out as 3-dimensional abstractions that illustrated the dynamic character inherent in the curved fold. The booklet, “cavex Roundfolding: The Mask Unfolds”, uses a lot of drawings and photos to help explain an unique concept. The images below become a shortcut for describing the progression from the abstract to expressive figures; from the flat to membrane sculptures.
