Carol Adrienne, Ph.D. January 2010 Happy New Year! THE UNIVERSAL VIBRATION OF 2010 The Universal Year of 2010 adds up to the powerful, synchronicity-charged number 3. Think of this Universal Year number as an influence bringing new bursts of creative solutions to all areas of your life—especially when you least expect it. This Universal green light activates positive movement through increasing human imagination, inspiration, social cohesiveness, and creative communication. Sounds like a great big global block party, doesn’t it? The last two digits of the year—10—suggest that many people will be inspired to innovate and think outside the box. Ten reminds us that by developing our life purpose with integrity and taking positive action we serve the common good. Those working quietly on the sidelines are likely to offer workable and unusual solutions to old problems. We may find an increase in pioneering technology and breakthroughs in science and the arts. In general, we will see proof that several areas of life are going to the next level. Ten is the number of the Wheel of Fortune in the Tarot deck of cards, and is associated with the universal principle of abundance, prosperity and expansion. This symbol reminds us that we can experience our lives more positively by being willing to let go of comparing ourselves to others, being more flexible, and looking for ways of using our talents and expertise. The Wheel of Fortune brings “the next level.” In numerology as well, the number 10 signifies a time for “going to the next level” of understanding and creativity. (By the way, have you noticed recently how many times a day you hear someone talking about taking something to the “next level?”) This socially-acknowledged concept of next level is emerging in everyday conversation. Perhaps this is a sign of a collective desire to address global issues now—very much in line with the universal quality of number 10 and the active, optimistic, and persuasive number 3 (the total of 2010.) On the other hand, with number 10’s insistence on integrity and authenticity, we could possibly see more instances of those who are out of integrity publicly falling from grace. Your Personal Year Story for 2010 Of course, the Universal Year 3 is only part of the story. Your personal birthday gives you specific keys for developing the incoming opportunities that will be presented to you in the next twelve months. Based on the Pythagorean system, your Personal Year starts January 1st and ends December 31st—no matter when your birthday occurs in the year—even if it is in late December. Find Your Personal Year To find your Personal Year, add your month and day of birth to 2010. Keep adding until you get a single number. For example, Alice’s birthday is November 12th, and when added to the current year… 11 + 12 + 2010 2 + 3 + 3 = 8 Personal Year for Alice We live in nine-year cycles, which follow the natural principles of growth and development. For example, 1 year initiation--a time for planting seeds 2 year developing--a time of germination 3 year self-expression—a time of flowering 4 year building a strong foundation—root system 5 year adapting to new conditions--changing form (seeds, buds. flowers, fruit) 6 year nurturing—a time for steady growth, and tending 7 year deepening—a time for quiet growth and refinement 8 year harvesting—a time to reap what you have sown for 8 years 9 year completion—lying fallow, learning from experience, releasing Your Personal Year for 2010 1 Personal Year START SOMETHING NEW Take advantage of the energizing force of 2010 and seek out new opportunities or develop another interest. This is not a time to procrastinate or let fears of looking foolish hold you back. Don’t try to figure out the “right decision;” instead follow your instincts towards what energizes you. This is the year to look and feel your best. For example, don’t think diet, think lifestyle change. Your life is now going to a new level, so give yourself room to grow by letting go of anything that is no longer working. Start the year by acknowledging exactly where you are without regrets. Resolve to follow through (small steps are okay) on one or two personal goals this year. By September, you may be amazed at the difference in your life. If single and looking, it’s a good year to be out and about. 1 Personal Year CHALLENGE Self-doubt or Lack of Courage Don’t worry about making a perfect new plan. Success comes from being positive, flexible, and open to the magic. Opportunities tend to increase towards fall. Work on building a fit body and stimulating your mind. Quote for a 1 Year: “Your future depends on many things, but mostly on you.” Frank Tyger 2 Personal Year RELATIONSHIPS, BALANCE, AND PEACE OF MIND This is a year to connect to people, and develop interests. Slowing down to enjoy life’s small moments increases your sense of purpose and well-being. Make sleep a priority. Especially if you have a hectic schedule, keep balance by spending time with family and friends. If single and looking, start with developing a creative interest or hobby. You’ll attract others of a similar wave-length. Be receptive and magnetic, rather than forceful or impatient. At work, increase your attention to detail. Help others look good. Volunteer to attend conferences. If self-employed, connect with people who cross-pollinate your business. 2 Personal Year CHALLENGE Occasional frustration or feeling alone Periods of low energy do not indicate anything is wrong! Most likely it means that you need to take better care of yourself. During sluggish periods, leave the big questions alone; concentrate on being more present in each moment. When bored, frustrated, or depressed, turn to long walks, books, music, baking cookies, or organizing your closets. This is not a year for haste, great ambitions, or worry. Cultivate friendships, and watch other areas of your life unfold effortlessly! Quote for a 2 Year: “Your wealth is where your friends are.” Plautus 3 Personal Year EXPRESS YOURSELF Since you are in alignment with the Universal vibration of 2010 (3), expect even more positive developments this year. Your cue is to loosen up and bring new interests into your life. While it’s likely that you are very busy with work or family (especially young people), it’s time for activities which are fun or that offer a chance to express yourself. For example, consider ballroom dance lessons, learning a language, or classes on photography, PhotoShop, or scrap books. If starting a business it’s crucial to network. If single and looking, you’re likely to meet lots of people now—although some may not be who they say they are! If married, you might be starting a family or spending more time with your children. This is a lucky year in many ways, and you may receive unexpected help from friends. A new opportunity could bring prosperity. 3 Personal Year CHALLENGE Impulsive spending Given the freedom aspect of number 3, there’s a slight possibility that you could be unemployed during part of this year. If so, use your time to develop ideas which may have been on the back burner—but for which you still have interest. Given the emphasis on imagination and self-expression attributed to number 3, this could also be a time of pouring money into a project, or suddenly deciding to refurbish your wardrobe or redecorate. While these projects are exciting, make a spending plan before using your credit card. Channel energy into healthy self-expression, and give yourself permission to play and experiment. Despite external circumstances remain optimistic. Quote for a 3 Year: “Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence.” Aristotle 4 Personal Year CREATE A STRONG CORE This is the time for determination. Continue taking steps to accomplish goals for future stability. Review where you are and where you’d like to be next year. What is it going to take for you to move ahead in a positive direction? More education or training? A better strategy with spending and income? A new job? A new roof on your house? Refinancing? A sense of peace and fulfillment comes from using common sense and seeing tangible progress. If progress is not swift, a patient and practical approach builds success by the end of the year. You may not always have what you want this year, but you will always have what you need. 4 Personal Year CHALLENGE Pessimism or lack of follow-through Anxiety can keep you from thinking creatively. Working without balance leads to a feeling of joylessness and resignation. Despite pressures and responsibility be sure to rejuvenate by spending time with pets, fitness workouts, tinkering, reading, and getting together with like-minded friends. If unemployed, avoid isolating; spend time wisely by learning something new or networking with others at job fairs or employment centers. Complete outstanding projects, experiment creatively, or get organized. Look for new developments to happen around June or October. Quote for a 4 Year: “The true worth of a man is to be measured by the objects he pursues.” Marcus Aurelius 5 Personal Year FOLLOW YOUR CURIOSITY AND BE OPEN At this point in your nine-year cycle, you tend to feel restless. It’s time to explore something new or make needed changes! Deep down, you know what adjustments are needed. Perhaps it’s become obvious that you need to have a serious talk with your partner about the future. Perhaps you realize that it’s time to relocate or find a more suitable place to live. Job uncertainties, while troubling, could precipitate a better position in the long run. Restlessness is your internal signal to be open to opportunity, which is almost always for the best if you listen to your gut instincts and expand your thinking. The most likely periods of change come in May or September. You could let go of an old condition or problem in April. 5 Personal Year CHALLENGE Lack of focus or resistance to change You may start a lot of things that don’t all pan out. That’s okay, but don’t run away from responsibility just because it’s the easy way out. Physical temptations may get the best of you if you over-eat, drink too much, or feel bored in your relationship. Channel your physical energy into a fitness plan. Since this year calls for change, you may be resisting making a change because you aren’t sure what to do. In that case, relax, and write down the following affirmation. “Today I want to meet good people.” Repeat daily. Quote for a 5 Year: “Always! That is the dreadful word…it is a meaningless word, too.” Oscar Wilde 6 Personal Year HOME, PARTNERSHIP, SERVICE, AND RESPONSIBILITY Relationships bring up issues of control and responsibility all year. Even if you live alone, you may be dealing with family issues. Others may sometimes seem to be making unreasonable demands on you—whether it’s your boss, roommate, or mother-in-law! Depending on your situation, you may be thinking about marriage or divorce. Finances, while carefully budgeted, tend to be secure, and you receive exactly what you need when you need it. During this period of your cycle you tend to stay with the tried and true. If you want to make a change, plan for April or August. Good times for a wedding or home improvements would be April, May, June, or September. Babies may arrive at any time this year, but look for them especially in April, June, or September. 6 Personal Year CHALLENGE Anxiety about the future If you allow yourself to become tired and overworked, you could start to feel a tinge of self-pity creeping in! Instead of blaming others, take responsibility for your own self-care. If you tend to become anxious over things you can’t control, learn to create a period of quiet contemplation each day (meditation.) If you find depression deepening, get a physical check up or see a counselor. Avoid negative people or those who try to make you feel guilty. When over-burdened, it’s essential to get into the habit of saying no, thank you, politely but firmly. Quote for a 6 year: “Make us happy and you make us good.” Robert Browning 7 Personal Year RENEWAL This is the point in your nine-year cycle to take stock and review the quality of your life. If you have been very busy making a living and attending to the needs of others at work or home, you may now experience an urge for more time to yourself. You may naturally decline invitations or slow down your schedule. It’s unlikely you will stop everything, but your priorities are definitely shifting. Like those in academic circles who take a sabbatical every seven years, you need a break. Unexpectedly, love could blossom or deepen. Make simplicity your goal this year. Cut expenses and consumption. Make no excuses. Make no explanations. 7 Personal Year CHALLENGE Trust As your life takes on a new perspective or you find things dropping away naturally, trust the flow. This year could bring great insight into who you are and what this life is all about. The challenge is to listen to that still, small voice—and let things be all right just as they are. If you have been focused on achievements and worldly issues without having balance in your life, you may suddenly feel lonely. If you have had many setbacks, you may feel you should be further ahead. Trust that your process is always taking you to a deeper, more fully developed place. Next year, you’ll gear up for further material accomplishments. 8 Personal Year TAKE YOUR POWER BACK This year tends to highlight your natural abilities and effective decision-making. You may unexpectedly discover creative ways to improve your situation, or find a way to work smarter. Legal matters or power struggles may be worked out to the satisfaction of both parties. During this period, you find the inner and outer strength to solve any problems. You are no longer a beginner, and you don’t expect others to solve your problems. However, if in doubt on a serious issue, seek wise, professional advice. In all dealings be businesslike, rather than pinning hopes on speculation or what stories others spin. Take charge of your financial situation, and do whatever it takes to pay down credit card debt and increase savings. Commit to learning more about sound investments like bonds and mutual funds, and feel good that you are taking certain steps to provide for your future. 8 Personal Year CHALLENGE Financial pressures and professional standing Generally, this is a great year to build financial resources. However, if you have been suffering from serious financial problems or setbacks, this year requires some tough decisions. Sales and deals tend to finalize in January or October. Quote for an 8 year: “Opportunities are often things you haven’t noticed the first time around.” Catherine Deneuve. 9 Personal Year RELEASE, COMPLETE, AND INTEGRATE Congratulations. You have completed your nine-year “assignment.” What do you think you’ve learned in the past nine years? Are you happy with your work? Satisfied with your relationships? Looking back over the past nine years, is there anything you would have done differently? During this period, we often begin to wind down in some area of interest. We instinctively feel something is coming to a close. Ask yourself: What would bring a sense of fulfillment or balance into my life now? It might be interesting to write down your feelings and reflections. Since number 9 expands our idea of ourselves and the world, this is a often a year to travel if possible. It’s also a time when you think about giving back. You might have a chance to pursue volunteer, educational, or cultural interests. You might connect with a spiritual community, take up Tai Chi or yoga. This could be an emotional or romantic year. If falling in love this year, avoid long-term commitments until after October. All and all this is one of those years to remember. 9 Year CHALLENGE Uncertainty about what’s next Uncertainty and emotional ups and downs are common during this transition period. You may be leaving behind an old part of yourself, letting go of an old dream, or, in some cases, parting with a significant person. This is a time to go with the flow. Let the river of life steer your boat where it needs to go. For the time being complete what can, and keep an eye out for the new direction. You’ll know it when you see it. The “rule of the nine” is that life always replaces whatever you lose with something even better. Get ready for your 1 Personal Year next year. Happy New Year to everyone!
